Is it possible to think that DLT could represent an opportunity, and not a threat, for the banking system? This is the question that the International Virtual Conference "New Challenges in the banking system: the role of Distributed Ledger Technology" aims to answer. The event (16, 17 and 18 December 2020) is organized by the Department of Management together with CIS Sapienza (Research Center of Cyber Intelligence and Information Security) and in collaboration with ABI (Italian Banking Association).

The International Conference will address in the six non-parallel sessions the critical issues related to the DLT in the banking sector and aims to offer a comprehensive view of the new landscape in which banks must operate. Topics to be discussed will include Regulation, Payment Systems, Asset Management, CBDCs, Security Profiles, Product and Business Process Innovation, and Financial Inclusion.

Taking advantage of the benefits of technology, representatives from institutions, operations and academia from Europe, Asia, North America and Australia will sit at the same "virtual round table".

Our confirmed Keynote Speakers are Elisabeth Noble (Senior Policy Expert, European Banking Authority), Harish Natarajan (Lead Financial Sector Specialist on Payments and Market Infrastructures in the Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation Global Practice, The World Bank), Andrea Pinna (Lead Expert in the Innovation team in the Market Infrastructure and Payments Department at the European Central Bank, European Central Bank), Roberto Baldoni (Deputy Director General of the Department of Information for Security (DIS) with responsibility for national cybersecurity).
