AUSTIN, TX – October 1, 2019– The Z-Wave Alliance, a global membership organization dedicated to advancing the popular Z-Wave wireless smart home protocol, will host its Fall Summit at the W Hotel in Austin, TX, October 2-4, 2019, and will convene members and partners for a series of discussions, panels and workshops on the IoT and smart home.
The three-day event will open on Wednesday, October 2, at the Silicon Labs headquarters office with a welcome reception featuring Tyson Tuttle, Silicon Labs CEO and Mitchell Klein, Z-Wave Alliance executive director, followed by an engaging keynote from Charlie Kindel of SnapAV. Kindel will guide attendees through the "5 Levels of Smart Home," where he will touch upon the vital matters at stake in today's smart home market, how leadership is the driving force for its future, and how ecosystem partners can all work together to enhance the "truly smart home" user experience.
Other Summit highlights include Friday’s opening keynote speaker, Shawn DuBravac, Ph.D, CFA, of Avrio Institute and author of the New York Times best-seller Digital Destiny: How the New Age of Data Will Transform the Way We Work, Live, and Communicate. DuBravac will share his insight and research into the global impact of disruptive technologies.
The two-day Z-Wave Summit program from October 3-4 consists of two tracks: a business, sales and marketing track and a technical Developer’s Forum track, offering attendees from CEOs and VPs to CTOs and engineers engaging content and inspire idea-sharing and relationship-building.
The Business and Marketing track will feature several panels and interactive sessions that explore a wide range of topics of interest to those in business, sales and marketing, including data/privacy issues and vertical market applications like retail, MDU/builder, security, health and insurance. Topics of discussion also include considerations for marketing and selling to mainstream consumers. For example, Jennifer Pattison Tuohy, journalist and editor for publications such as The Ambient, Dwell, and Wirecutter, will join a fireside chat to discuss the state of the smart home from the consumer perspective. Additional speakers include representatives from Deloitte, Boston Consulting, and Parks Associates.
The Developer’s Forum Technical track will feature deep dives into Z-Wave technology for developers and engineers, including information around the new Z-Wave Plus V2 certification, and the latest Z-Wave 700 platform and conversations with Silicon Labs technical experts. Considerations and best practices for the development and implementation of Z-Wave will also be discussed, and the track will end on October 4 with the UnPlug Fest, a plug fest style session that allows attendees to bring their devices and controllers to test against other Z-Wave devices.
“The Z-Wave Summit is an opportunity to bring together Z-Wave Alliance members with other industry thought leaders, experts, and business-owners working in the IoT ecosystem to share ideas and learn from one another,” said Mitchell Klein, executive director, Z-Wave Alliance. “With over 3000 certified devices now in the Z-Wave product ecosystem and a member roster of more than 700 global companies, the Alliance is in a unique position to lead and host these important conversations around the future of not only Z-Wave, but others in the IoT and smart home industries, and how we can come together to create better products, technologies and partnerships to drive adoption and interest.”
The Z-Wave Summit is held twice a year – in Spring in Europe and in the Fall in the United States – to bring the global ecosystem together to discuss the future of Z-Wave and the industries that matter to members. See the full agenda and learn more about Z-Wave Summit at www.z-wavesummit.com.
