Stacuity, the programmable, software-defined mobile core company, today announced the launch of its new South Africa Edge location in Johannesburg, expanding its globally distributed network of managed packet gateways to a fourth continent. This new site reinforces Stacuity’s mission to deliver low-latency, secure, and compliant mobile connectivity through fully programmable, cloud-native infrastructure.

The Johannesburg edge location is deployed across Equinix and Teraco data centres, providing:

  • Local traffic processing to reduce latency and improve application responsiveness
  • Highly resilient IPX and IP Transit connectivity within South Africa
  • Integration with local and international mobile network operators
  • Full interconnection with Stacuity’s global POPs for a consistent worldwide service experience

This new South Africa edge site strengthens our global network, enabling us to deliver high-performance, programmable connectivity in a region where enterprises increasingly depend on low latency and assured data handling,” said John Freeman, CEO of Stacuity. “It provides a strong foundation for enterprises deploying mission-critical and latency-sensitive applications across Africa.

The launch of the South Africa PoP marks the next phase in Stacuity’s partnership with iONLINE Connected Networks (iONLINE). As a specialist connectivity solution provider in the region, iONLINE will now be able to deliver Stacuity’s software-defined features and capabilities locally, supported through seamless integration with the CentralFlex Connectivity Management Platform (CMP).

This enhanced capability strengthens iONLINE’s ability to offer low-latency, secure, and feature-rich connectivity solutions to enterprises, CSPs, and IoT deployments across Africa.

The launch of the South Africa edge location enhances our ability to deliver world-class, locally optimised connectivity to customers across the region,” said David Farquharson, CEO of iONLINE. “Stacuity’s software-defined capabilities and real-time control align perfectly with the performance, security and reliability our customers expect.

The South Africa edge location supports industries where latency, data residency, and real-time decisioning directly influence operational outcomes—including healthcare, logistics, utilities, transportation, security, and smart infrastructure.

By combining Stacuity’s global, programmable mobile core with iONLINE’s CentralFlex connectivity management platfrom, customers across Africa gain:

  • Low-latency in-region routing
  • Improved reliability versus international backhaul routes
  • Enhanced security and regulatory compliance
  • A single, consistent service experience across Africa and worldwide
  • Access to advanced enterprise and IoT connectivity features
