The Things Conference, the world’s largest LoRaWAN event, went virtual on April 16th, 2020 with a 24h Livestream bringing together over 6000 people from all over the world, across all time zones.
The Things Virtual Conference is organized by The Things Network, an open-source global network that enables anyone to build a low-power long-range IoT solution.
From interactive AMAs with industry experts to hands-on workshops and LoRaWAN leading-edge devices demonstrations, attendees got access to over 100 presentations from frontrunners in the technology. Today, find out the 4 key highlights from The Things Virtual Conference including market updates, the world record-breaking distance, and a new groundbreaking module.
1. LoRaWAN market and technology updates
The Things industries, an end-to-end enterprise LoRaWAN solutions provider, presented the latest market and technology developments. The session provides an overview of LoRaWAN’s advantages and a demo of The Things Industries’ services: The Things Stack (an open-source network server) and The Things Enterprise Stack (a dedicated enterprise-grade network server). The presentation ends with the newest technological developments, including a security solution and the Packet Broker (an open global platform to exchange LoRaWAN traffic across networks).
2. LoRaWAN world distance record broken
One of the main benefits of LoRaWAN is its ability to connect devices at a large distance. In the past 5 years, the world record for the maximum distance a LoRaWAN data packet can travel has been broken multiple times. The new record stands at an incredible 832 km (517 miles). Learn how the world’s record distance was broken.
