MachNation Releases IoT Edge ScoreCard for 2019, a Review of 17 IoT Edge Vendors’ Capabilities

IoT For All

BOSTON, Mass. – MachNation announces the availability of its IoT Edge ScoreCard for 2019, a detailed rating of 17 Internet of Things (IoT) edge platform vendors.

“MachNation’s second annual IoT Edge ScoreCard is the industry’s most thorough review of IoT edge platforms,” said Steve Hilton, MachNation president and analyst. “Enterprises must understand these platforms’ strengths and weaknesses, because we estimate that more than 75% of all industrial IoT deployments use edge capabilities.”

MachNation’s ScoreCard contains several graphics to help clarify the strengths of IoT edge platform vendors’ solutions. The ScoreCard ranks vendors using 17 detailed technical and business criteria.
“Based on customer demand, we’ve included summary figures in this year’s ScoreCard describing vendors’ primary edge capabilities including edge visualization, edge analytics, edge data processing, edge data storage, hypervisor/OS, edge management, and edge hardware,” said Samuel Hale, MachNation analyst and head of IoT platform testing.

MachNation’s 2019 IoT Edge ScoreCard contains analysis of the following vendors: ADLINK, Amazon, Bosch, ClearBlade, Crosser, Eurotech, FogHorn Systems, Interactor, Litmus Automation, Microsoft, Nymea, Rigado, Siemens, Software AG, SWIM, Telit, and Wicastr.

To assist engineering, product, and software development teams, MachNation evaluates many of these same IoT platforms in its hands-on IoT platform test lab called MIT-E. MachNation is the only firm that conducts hands-on tests of IoT platforms and makes test-based comparison data available for platforms like Microsoft Azure IoT, Amazon AWS IoT, ClearBlade IoT Edge Platform, Software AG Cumulocity IoT, PTC ThingWorx, and others.
