From the moment I arrived at LoRaWAN Live, I could feel a sense of excitement from the LoRaWAN ecosystem that filled the room as the LoRa Alliance’s CEO and Chairwoman, Donna Moore, stood on stage and gave her keynote speech. “The industry is moving from asking ‘What is LoRaWAN?’ to ‘How do I implement LoRaWAN?’” Donna told the crowd, something that resonated with each attendee.

Aside from bringing LoRa Alliance Members and non-Members together, the event’s focus was on cities, buildings, utilities, and showcasing how LoRaWAN is being utilized to bring solutions to life. The LoRa Alliance’s approach is about providing the means to transform businesses and to bring a holistic, not siloed, approach to digital transformations across industries since, as how Donna put it, “digital transformation is not a destination, it’s a continual stage of evolution…with the goal of creating ongoing value for businesses and governments.”

The keynote evolved into a panel discussion with experts from Tektelic, Eleven-X, and Orbiwise discussing with Donna and Colin Adderley (from the City of Calgary) just how exactly they have worked together using LoRaWAN to transform Calgary into a truly smart city.

The next two days were filled with sessions, panels, and in-person discussions at the Marketplace where LoRa Alliance Members had the opportunity to showcase their LoRaWAN products and solutions.

I was onsite to speak to attendees about what role they were playing in the industry and what they were most excited about going forward in the LoRaWAN space. From my discussions, it was clear that there was a true sense of community and passion shared by each individual and their company.

This community is something that I truly believe is a big driver in the ongoing growth and success of not only the LoRa Alliance but the entire LoRaWAN ecosystem across the board.

There are a lot of big things happening in the LoRaWAN ecosystem, a community built around trust and relationships, all aimed to help build more businesses, better technology, and better solutions.

But at the end of the day, what excited me the most was to hear from the end users about the successes they were seeing, as they seemed quite proud to evangelize the power of LoRaWAN.

But don’t take my word for it, check out our video below to hear from some of those end users and those bringing LoRaWAN solutions to life. Enjoy!
