Rigado, Kontakt.io Partnership Combines Sensor and Location Analytics with Secure Edge-as-a-Service Infrastructure

A partnership between Rigado and Kontakt.io is bringing intelligent analytics to the secure and extensible edge infrastructure that will make buildings smarter and businesses more effective. The partnership adds the Kontakt.io Simon AI — a location and sensor analytics software suite for safety and efficiency applications in operational environments — to Rigado Cascade IoT Gateways, which offer an integrated solution for edge connectivity, computing and security.

The result is a scalable business solution that dramatically reduces the complexity and cost associated with collecting insights necessary to optimize and improve asset management, logistics and operations.

“This partnership addresses the key challenges of commercial IoT by combining a robust, ready-to-deploy intelligence platform with secure and scalable edge infrastructure,” said Kevin Tate, Chief Revenue Officer at Rigado. “The Kontakt.io Simon AI is an impressive complement to our secure edge infrastructure, and it allows companies to immediately translate data from Rigado into the insights that apply to their business.”

The Cascade IoT Gateway reduces the complexity, cost and risk of commercial IoT through a simple subscription service that delivers key wireless connectivity, an edge computing platform and managed security updates. The gateways run multiple, containerized edge applications, allowing operations teams to reduce the cost and complexity associated with deployment and management of commercial IoT.

The Simon AI platform provides businesses with end-to-end human resource and asset visibility solutions in a ready-to-run package. From factory and warehouse operations teams, to finance and human-resource managers, users in a variety of markets and functions will benefit from the combination.

“The value of Simon AI relies on being able to receive rich, real-time data from the smart environment,” said Philipp von Gilsa, CEO at Kontakt.io. “The Rigado Cascade solution provides a secure, scalable and cost-effective way to receive that critical data, no matter the scale.”

By adding Simon AI to the Cascade IoT Gateway, Rigado and Kontakt.io are offering a valuable solution that can be deployed quickly, managed easily, and supports a wide range of smart building and logistics applications. Further, the system can be easily, and quickly scaled to meet future demand.

Both companies will showcase the combined solution at the Kontakt.io booth at Hannover Messe from April 1 to April 5. The booth is located at Hall 5, Stand F49.

IoT Meets Building Automation

IoT is advancing building automation beyond mere optimizations. It's bringing systems together and adding new value, through innovations like demand control and the way it improves air quality. But we must remember that IoT-based analytics platforms work only because they connect people with technology—without humans at the helm, they’re of little value.

Securing an IoT Solution? Start With the Network Layer

With a virtually infinite amount of devices in distributed enterprise environments, along with various venues for the IoT in differing industries, the network is now the focal point for its security. Through the network, users and devices can be authenticated, policies and rules put in place to control access and behavior, and visibility can be increased to detect anomalies. To make this truly work, security and network personnel must collaborate closely.
